Clarendon Hills Public Library
CHPL Meeting Room

Event Details

The 150,000 women who served in the Women’s Army Corps are now seen as the unsung heroes of the Second World War. The memoir, Mollie’s War, describes the life of a WAC enlistee – from her experience in basic training to the climactic moment when she saw the Statue of Liberty as her ship approached American shores upon her return home. Using her mother’s letters and interviews, co-author Cyndee Schaffer provides a glimpse into the life of a woman in uniform during this crucial time in American history — a life that alternated between fear and fun, exhaustion and leisure. A book signing follows the presentation.
