Paws for Reading Dog Parade

Join in the fun with our dog costume parade to help celebrate our summer Paws for Reading program. We will parade you and your costumed dogs outside the library for spectators and judges to view. Prizes will be awarded in three categories.Participants must sign a waiver and dogs must have proof of current rabies shot.

E-Mail 101

In this fun and interactive class, patrons will sign up for their own e-mail accounts as well as learn about how to send messages, properly maintain their inboxes, and general e-mail safety tips. All of it will be hands on using a set of laptops generously donated by the Friends of the Library.

Registration is required because seating is limited. Available to Carol Stream valid cardholders ages 18 and up. Registration is scheduled to open on June 1st at 9:00 a.m.

Summer Movie: Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D

When: Tuesday, June 18, 2013 - 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

While backpacking across Iceland, science professor Trevor Anderson and his nephew Sean find a cave that leads them deep down into the bowels of the planet. Trevor, Sean and their mountain guide discover a fantastic and dangerous lost world in the center of the earth. 3D glasses will be provided and popcorn will be served. Covered drinks and dry snacks are allowed. Popcorn will also be available. Rated PG with a running time of 92 minutes

Fourth of July Barbeque: Beyond the Basics

Spend a culinary evening with Chef Maddox learning some new recipes to enjoy over your independence holiday. In this class, guests will learn some great ideas beyond the basic burgers, buns, and garnishes. A program surely not to be missed.

Attendees will be given samples of the food. Please contact Adult Services if you have any specific food allergies the presenter should be aware of.
Registration is required. Attendee must be 12 years old or older.

Movie & Playtime

We are offering short movies suitable for young children, and time for the children to play with the Library’s puzzles and other toys. Stay for a short while or as long as you want, it is up to you. No registration is required and children age five and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Digging up History: Cahokia Mounds

Dig into the past with an interesting and interactive program about Cahokia Mounds in southwestern Illinois. There will be stories, crafts and games to introduce children to the Cahokia society. Consider Cahokia as a family destination this summer and dig up some fun of your own!
