Hair and Hue: When the European Beauty Aesthetic Becomes Too Much

Event Type: Adults
Date: 3/13/2018
Start Time: 6:30 PM
End Time: 8:00 PM
Description:
Colorism is a source of pain for many Black women and girls. This
workshop explores how racism created colorism–a hierarchy of
hue, hair, facial features, and body image that has devastating consequences in the lives of Black women and girls. In this
workshop, women learn about colorism from past to present through
activities and their shared experiences as well as strategies for
overcoming colorism.
