Best discusses Chicago’s past, including historical data prior to and during the 1950’s and 1960’s that impacted her life as an African-American living on the South Side of Chicago. Dr. Best details her family’s journey through the Woodlawn, Hyde Park, and Chatham communities in the quest for a better life. They often had to break through discrimination, racial restrictions, and barriers; however, she found mostly pleasurable experiences that everyone can connect to.
