Stay cool with great books during the dog days of summer -- join our Paws to Read Summer Reading Program! Pre-readers through children going into 5th grade can enjoy six weeks of programs and prizes for reading.

This summer, the goal for every child is to read (or be read to) for 20 minutes five days each week. Starting the week of June 16, kids who have read 100 minutes can check in, either online or at the library, to get a prize from our treasure chest (limit 1 prize/week). Kids also have a chance to win something in our weekly drawing -- 20 winners will be chosen randomly by the computer each week.

New this summer: for every 100 minutes read, kids get a ticket for the grand prize drawing. So the more you read, the more chances you’ll have to win! The last day to check in is July 31; drawing winners announced August 1.

Please register for all programs unless they are specified as "drop-in." Space is limited in many programs; admission is not guaranteed unless you have previously registered. Please register online or call 708-448-1473.

You must register for each week's activity separately (registering for one activity does not automatically register you for each activity). Story Times are the exception--you register once for the whole six-week session.

Please note: the library may photograph or videotape program participants for library promotional purposes. If you do not want your image or your child's image published, notify library staff before or immediately following the program.

I came into the library and got 4 Magic Treehouse books (mom bought me one at Target, too). Ms. Denise also found me an Andy Griffin book.
