Historical interpretations of the era have changed significantly since the late 19th century . We will explore the history of the era as well as conflicting historical interpretations with Professor of Social Science and History, Richard Stacewicz,of Oakton Community College. Suggested reading is Eric Foner's Forever Free : The Story of Emancipation and Reconstruction.
