Costumed in knitter Stephen West's creations, 10 musicians and dancers will perform in and around the library. The performers are students in COLAB, an interdisciplinary class at the University of Illinois, taught by Kirstie Simson, associate professor of dance. Stephen West is based in Brooklyn and known world-over for his inventive and beautiful knitting patterns. He will talk about his work after the performance.

Love to knit? Just learning? Stop by before the show, 3-4 pm, to join a Knitting Circle with Stephen West. You'll have a chance to talk with him and meet other area knitting enthusiasts.

Join us for a fun and entertaining evening with children’s author and Caldecott Honor illustrator Peter McCarty. Peter has written and illustrated many acclaimed books for children, including Bunny Dreams, Fall Ball, Chloe, which received four starred reviews, and Henry in Love, a New York Times Best Illustrated Book of the Year. Peter’s books will be available for purchase and signing after the presentation.

Peter McCarty is also the author and illustrator of Hondo & Fabian, a Caldecott Honor Book and New York Times Best Illustrated Book of the Year, and its sequel, Fabian Escapes; T Is for Terrible; Little Bunny on the Move; and Moon Plane, a Charlotte Zolotow Award winner. Peter is an instructor at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. He lives with his wife and their two children in Clinton Corners, New York, where they get lots of snow.

As you read books and complete activities, fill in the titles. Four-in-a-row gets you a special stamp when you bring your log to the library. Earn your prize book the first time you finish all the squares!
