Practice your reading by reading to a dog!  Our Tail Waggin Tutors provide a relaxing "dog friendly" atmosphere for building confidence in reading.  Kids read to their dog for 20 minutes then have 10 minutes to cuddle with these wonderful therapy animals.  Please call (847)866-0330 to register for four week session.  The dogs are such great listeners that sometimes our readers will share a dog with another reader but everyone will have plenty of time to cuddle at the end of the session.  If your schedule is too busy to register for a complete session, plan to drop in and see if one of these wonderful dogs has time to listen to your child read.

Create: Build Your Dream

This summer children ages 11 and younger can join our Summer Reading Program beginning June 1-July 31. They may register in person at any library location beginning on June 1. Participants will receive a log to record their summer reading and other creative activities. Check in three more times over the summer to receive some creative incentives and earn a free paperback book.

All Ages Kickoff Event

All ages are welcome to come and enjoy a creative musical event performed by Hoapali Music. Start the summer off right with the sounds of Hawaiian music. The performance will be held at the Main Library in the Community Meeting Room at 2 pm.

Many CREATE-ive Ways to participate

Family Create Nights will start on Wednesday, May 21 with a visit from children’s book author, Candace Fleming. Ms. Fleming has written over twenty books for children and is appearing thanks to our partnership with Foundation 65. Look for the rest of the Family Fun Nights on Thursdays from May 29-June 26 at 7 pm. We’ll have Lego Building Night, Drive-in Movie Night, Jammie Time and more.

An Art Glass Workshop will allow families with children ages 7-10 to design their own stained glass styled project to take home while learning about Frank Lloyd Wright’s art glass designs. This 90 minute workshop will be on Tuesday, July 8 from 6:30-8 pm.

Each week during the summer we will feature a drop-in Create Station with a variety of games, projects and other activities.
