Getting Started
Big Scientists (5+ years)

Welcome to Thomas Ford Memorial Library's 2014 Summer Reading Club, "Fizz, Boom, READ!" If you are between the ages of 5 and 12, you can sign up for this program and earn prizes for reading. Children ages 2-4 should sign up under the "Little Scientists" tab, and babies under 2 can sign up under the "Baby Scientists" tab.

You can sign up for the Summer Reading Club here and print your reading log from the links at the lower left, or you can sign up at the library.

If you signed up at the library and want to access your account to submit book reviews* or check your progress, your user name is your first and last name with no space. Your password is the last 4 digits of your phone number.

Happy Reading!

*Tips to keep in mind while writing your book reviews

Be honest: Give your review personality and remember that kids want to know what you REALLY think. You may review a favorite (or not so favorite) book.

Be detailed: Tell us exactly what you liked or didn't. Was it a story you couldn't put down? Were the characters just like people you know? What made it special?

Be accurate: Be sure to get the title, author, and character names right, plus double-check your spelling and grammar.

DON'T spoil it: Please don't give away the ending! A brief summary of the plot that doesn't give away too much is all that is needed.

Information for parents: Writing book reviews helps a child's reading comprehension. It also gives him or her the opportunity to express an opinion through writing and develop his or her writing style and voice.
