Women in Mystery Seminar

Event Type: ADULTS
Date: 10/10/2012
Start Time: 7:00 PM
End Time: 8:00 PM
Are you a reader of mysteries? Maybe curious about the mystery genre? This is the seminar for you. During four 1-hour weekly meetings we will talk about various types of mysteries (crime fiction, thrillers, detective stories and so on), and the history of women as main characters in mystery literature. Short stories will be read. We will discuss how mysteries are written, what the author wants for the reader, and how the parts of a mystery book (title, openings, humor, etc.) make up a satisfying whole. There will be plenty of opportunity to share information about our favorite mystery writers and to learn about good ones we might have missed.

Short stories we will read this week:
Christie, Agatha. “The Idol House of Astarte.”
D’Amato, Barbara. “Stop, Thief!”
