Event Details

For Grades 6-12 with or without an Adult Sorry, no adults can attend without a student. There will be a 1 hour break from 12 to 1 so people can get lunch. Food is NOT provided. Learn to sew a basic project (pajama pants) all in one day. The library will provide sewing machines, white all purpose thread, and some other basic sewing supplies. Participants will need to purchase the following items: An easy pajama pant pattern with an elastic waist (recommended options: It’s So Easy 2116, New Look 6859, McCall’s 7299, McCall’s 5992, McCall’s 2476, or - for plus sizes - Simplicity 5314) You can purchase sewing patterns at most WalMarts as well as any fabric store. Elastic and Fabric to match your sewing pattern. Good fabric choices are flannel or lightweight woven cotton (or cotton/poly blend). Avoid fleece and other knit fabric. If you need help determining how much fabric to buy you can ask the people at the fabric store or you can bring your pattern in to Ms. Julia before you purchase your fabric. A plastic or cloth measuring tape for sewing. Straight pins (I recommend the ones with a ball at the end). A seam ripper. Scissors Specifically for Cutting Fabric - preferably new ones that say they are meant for fabric on the package. Space is very limited. Registration is required and begins March 1st.
