Become the Detective: Glessner House Miniature Crime Scenes

Event Type: Discussions
Age Group(s): Adults
Date: 10/27/2018
Start Time: 11:00 AM
End Time: 1:00 PM
Description:
Frances Glessner Lee is considered the “mother of forensic science” and helped police hone their crime scene investigation skills by using her hand-crafted meticulously detailed miniature death scenes, which she called the Nutshell Studies of Unexplained Death.

In this program, William Tyre, Executive Director and Curator of the Glessner House in Chicago, invites YOU to become the detective as we venture deep inside four of these Nutshell Studies. Using Lee’s crime scene descriptions, detailed photographs, and diagrams of the scenes, members of the audience will work together to unravel the clues Lee placed in the models and try to determine – was it suicide, accidental death, or murder?

In partnership with the Sisters of Crime Chicagoland
