Mussels, Moonshine, Music: Mississippi Valley Migrants in the 20th Century

Event Type: Public Services
Date: 3/30/2017
Start Time: 6:30 PM
End Time: 7:30 PM
In a time almost forgotten, the Midwest and upper South were once home to thousands of Americans who lived and worked on the rivers as share croppers, fishermen, mussel shellers, button cutters, traveling minstrels, and even moonshiners. Fiddler and historian Dennis Stroughmatt brings this program of music, storytelling, and a fabulous collection of artifacts to tell their stories and play the music of the Mississippi Valley migrants.
