Join historical storyteller, Lynn Rymarz as she shares the story of Geraldine Hoff Doyle, the image behind the iconic poster of Rosie the Riveter, “We Can Do It!” Hear how this glamour girl went to work in a factory in Ann Arbor, Michigan at the age of 17 to support the war effort on the home front during World War II. Learn about some of the other real life “Rosies” who stepped out of their traditional roles to go to work during this historical era. Step back in time to discover their joys, their hardships and their struggles. Woven throughout this presentation will be the parallel story of the life and times of a Jewish teenage girl, named Millie Werber from the ghetto in Poland. Hear her story of going to work in a factory to support the Nazi war effort. A discussion of her memoir, “Two Rings: A Story of Love and War,” will be included.
