Small Business Workshops Presented by SCORE 3rd Wednesdays at 6:30pm (Plan on 1-1.5 hours of presentation plus 1/2 hour for Q&A) Employee vs. Independent Contractor There is a lot of confusion and mythology regarding employees vs. independent contractors. There are significant risks and penalties to labeling an individual incorrectly. It is therefore incumbent on the employer and the worker to understand the distinctions between and limitations on each category. This workshop is for new and middle-stage entrepreneurs. Presenter: Fran Zollers is a Professor Emerita of Law & Public Policy in the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University. She has also taught as a visiting professor at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, the Kelly School of Business at Indiana University, and was a visiting scholar at the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Her teaching areas include business organizations, intellectual property, technology law, and entrepreneurship law. Her teaching responsibilities have been directed at the undergraduate level, graduate level (MBA and PhD) and executive groups. Educational credentials include a BA cum laude from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana and a JD with honors from the Syracuse University College of Law.
